Gift Ideas

We need to think of something to get for Xiao Gui.

I think we should get him this:

but, this is just a dream, considering its already sold out, and can only be found on ebay for more than a thousand US dollars( probably closer to 2). Also, he might already have it/plan on getting it.

before i knew it sold out, i thought it would be cool to get, because there's only, like 500 in circulation. but as i said, its massive expensive, and he may already have it.

while i think of a cheaper plan, does anyone else want to chair ideas?

ok i think i've said this to Sanguine and bestfiction before. i'll just note down my idea here again for everyone else's consideration.

in view of our plan to make this club official, and known to xiao gui. why not we all come up with an idea of a t-shirt design, with of cus this forum's name on it. we'll present it together with a scrapbook (just like the one singapore fans did for Show for his b'day episode on BFB). each page will be designed by each and everyone of us individually. if u have a pic with xiao gui before, kudos for u, u might wanna put it there. for the rest of us who doesn't, well, we could always like put our pic and his pic, or if not... just see how u wanna do it.

it won't be too expensive and i'm sure everyone cld chip in a little bit for the freight fare and of cus the scrapbook/-shirt

So what would be on the pages of the scrapbook? I know that some of you had started one before on a blogspot, right? Would we just be updating it or adding scanned photos?
On how to get it to Xiao Gui: Maybe since you're going later this year, you could bring it with you to give to him?

oh awesome! the shop which u're talking about is located in US i suppose? it's a really reasonable price! if everyone's agreeable to the idea, we just need someone who's good in designs to create something. or everyone could contribute their designs and have everyone vote for which one would they prefer. then we'll get it done in the shop! hehehe
yes yes, i wouldn't mind bringing it to him (like of course!!), but im going end of the year and his birthday is wayyy before that. so if there'll be like a show of YLBFB for him like xiao zhu's, it'll kinda be too late?

ahh yes, i believe some of you guys have started the scrapbook thingy from xiao gui's blog. maybe we cld follow up from there. i'm not sure exactly how's the scrapbook design is like, but this is for his birthday, so it'll be best if we have more on wishes and encouragements for him. in hopes it'll boost his morale up whenever he's feeling down

That sounds great!...but I feel bad, because I don't know how I'd be able to contribute. My parents would NEVER let me spend money on something so "useless" as they call it. I can design and stuff...I feel so bad, now.

I think, if you guys have pictures with Xiao Gui, they also go in the scrapbook? And personal messages and stuff.

yeaps! that's the plan. hmmm, maybe u could contribute in the designing then afterwhich u could post it to us here on the design which u have created. that's contributing too... as for the scrapbook, we'll think of something. we still hafta wait for everyone's idea and till we actually manage to finalise something. dun worry yea, the update will definitely be in here . thank u so much for your support! hehehe. that's all that really matters.

We'll still do the scrapbook like what xoxogui suggested. and, then we can make little trinkets and stuff, 'Xiao Gui Merchandise', like cellphone charms, and pillow cases, and stickers, and stuff? nothing to expensive.

and make at least 2, so one can be sent to Xiao Gui.

I posted this in the thread on AF, too: Why don't we make an MV for him? Like other people did on youtube...put together his performance on YLBFB, his other show (The winner is...), live performances that were on TV, and any of his dramas or YLBFB episodes. It's really easy to make them on windows media maker, or other things. And this looks better than a slide show, because there's actual movement and we can actually put things that match the meaning--find something he's doing that matches the lyrics at the time.

I'd think to use a song from Xiao Gui's album...when's his birthday, again? If it's during the school year, especially SAT or AP months, I can't do it, but I can provide videos, pictures, etc.

Ok i'm kinda confused. so we have 3 suggestions now right?

are we doing on all 3 or we're having a poll first? for the MV, we're going to burn a cd for him?

i dont see why we cant do all three.

we'll just have to put people in charge of the projects, get them to moderate the progress.


i'll take care of the shirts, but that may mean i wont be able to help with the other 2 as much, sorry.

i dun mind being in charge of the scrapbook. i think i could get bestfiction to help me if she has the time.

of course we'll get started on this real soon, although his bday is in november. cus everyone's from a few different countries. so i'll need to know what design you want and prolly print it out and stuff. this will be updated so keep a lookout on this forum more often!

p.s: now we need someone to work with the video. you guys can volunteer for that.

Yikes! November is an SAT month...oh, well. If I have time, I'll be sure to help--it doesn't take long to make an MV. If I don't have time to actually make the MV (I'll just make sure not to procrastinate), I'll email someone ALL the things on Xiao Gui I have--so if anyone wants me to download something, I'll download it, zip it, and email it. *thinks*...wait a sec, I'm going to get started now! Um...does anyone have anything specific they want on the MVs? I kind of want to make one for every song...so I need to find actions that match. Or we could use another song--but I think he'd be happy if we use his songs.

For a CD...I could copy it on, but I can't ship it to anyone. If I make the MV, I could send it to someone with Windows Movie Maker. There's a function that transfers to a DVD/CD.

I agree, we can do all 3 of the presents.

I'm not sure if i can help out on anything , but maybe i can help out on designing the cover page of the scrapbook or something ?

icecreamm, that'd be great!! the cover is the most important portion. it has to be interesting and welcoming for xiao gui! so that'll be up to you to design! so, which part of the world are u from?

POGA, i think the MV should be like a motivational MV for him, yet a memorable one.. with a lot of his memorable moments in the business to bring him joy when watching it. prolly could include those clips which has fans supporting him / him singing / friends supporting him on the opening of his shop or whichever. something that he could relate to or make him wanna watch when he feels down and needs a morale boost.

the burning part is not a problem. once we have the whole MV compiled, i think anyone could burn it. where do you reside again?

Okay. I've, um...only been following him for about three/four months (how long I've been watching YLBFB). I don't have a lot of his early stuff and success (I don't know what Tokyo Juliet scenes he's in, for instance, and I refuse to watch it, even for him. And I haven't watched MIT either), so it would be great if you had the links or something to give me to put. I think Tokyo Juliet would be good to put in b/c like he said, it was his first drama. And his live concerts. Of course, and his fans. Do you have specific clips you know of?

lets wait for Sanguine to be back for her to give you the clips. she's best at this. i didn't watch tokyo juliet cus i heard he didn't appear much in that show and i dun wanna watch the whole drama just to wait for him to appear. he's one of the main casts in MIT and it's easier to include the parts. however, i'm not sure if we should use parts of a drama for him cus it's something he could kinda easily find and all. for MIT, hmm you know there are parts whereby GTV filmed them (like when xiao zhu went to give them a visit and all), ya i thought we should use that as part of his MV. the ones with him having performances are easy to find. there are a few posted in AF like by bestfiction which u could take from. then there's the one with him as guest in BFB playing with the hongkong fan which u could use. u know, stuff like this.. happy moments for the MV to let him know there are people backing him up.

great! another Singaporean. so postage would be a breeezeeee!
i don't have any paper preference in mind yet. but i think we should use the hard one. we don't hafta do up an A4 scrapbook for him. we could cut into half and everyone would do up their part on that half. then we'll bind it up together and air-post it to him.

he, i really like the idea of making a MV for one of xiao songs. i would try to make one, but i can't guarantee anything, because i haven't done it before.
it should be manageable with window movie maker...mmh...are there any preferences which song...because if POGA ( i hope you do a MV as well ) we can have/make 2-3 mv for different songs of xiao gui EP.

hey all, im back!


1st. Tokyo Juliet, yeah, he's not in it a lot, and his characters really weird. but, i understand the thought proses i wanting to put some clips in. But, before we do anything, we have to pick a song, so then we match the clips to the beat and the lyrics.

2nd. POGA, I have WMM, and probably enough money to ship something from Boston to Cali, if you want me to clip a bunch of things and put them on a CD, i can probably get it to you.

3rd. Don't forget he's in other dramas aside from MIT and Tokyo Juliet. there's Kid From Heaven, Summer X Summer, and Corner With Love. Plus his movies Holiday Dreaming and Black Tide.

now, about the shirts: i have no price yet, because I've been away, and everything I've checked so far is WAY to expensive. 50 bucks for a shirt is ridiculous, I'm sorry. I'm thinking about Baseball jersey like button up shirts. If you want one, leave the name you want on the back and your number, and I'll get back to you on how much it will cost. I'd LOVE to do this for free, but i cant. I'm sorry.

November isnt as far away as we think, considering POGA as SATs and I'm going back to school September 1st. time is short.

Sanguine: You don't need to ship it, just email it (that's probably easier and faster than waiting for shipment).

I have all Corner With Love Episodes, so I didn't mention that--including his infamous underwear-only scene. I'm so tempted to put that in. Really, I am. Maybe we can make one serious, supportive MV and one just full of hilarious things--him in that scene, cracking up on YLBFB, falling down, etc. I mentioned Tokyo Juliet b/c it's his first ever idol-drama, and he said he'd always remember it because of that (in the Ariel Lin YLBFB episode). I'm not quite familiar with his other stuff, though. But there's also Xiao Gui Dan Jia (his food show) and "The Winner is...."

About shirts: if you get it in massive shipments, it's cheaper. But then, there aren't that many people in this forum, yet...

kleene: I know how to make MV's (we had to make one for school with a controversial topic, and our teacher expects a lot, so each one looks like an actual music video.) But it's pretty easy to make it look professional/nice with windows movie maker, which comes included with most computers. I think I might download some other tech, too, to make it better.

Not only are SATs coming up...AP homework I have yet to do. Yikes. Which is why I'm scrambling right now. Should be able to finish if I work for 10 hours straight...
