Li Ming Yi watches the Power Rangers and shouts, "How embarrassing!"
July 17, 2010
Translation by POGA
Under the fervent anticipation of fans, the idols that started in Japan and spread worldwide, “Power Rangers Series,” performed their opening play in Taiwan yesterday with entertainers gathering at the scene. Besides Gao Jie appearing in the flesh to bring his beloved children, Cui Pei Yi and Li Ming Yi also brought their sons to watch. The funny part is, Li Ming Yi who brought his son, Wei Li, actually shouted, “I’m so old, yet I still came to watch. So embarrassing!” causing everyone to burst into laughter.
Power Rangers has now reached its 35th year, and brings adults many memories of their childhood. In Japan, its degree of popularity is comparable with that of Doraemon’s. In order to extend their sincerity to long-supportive Taiwan, besides designing an entirely new play script with completely new Mandarin dubbing, they [Power Rangers] also shipped over from Japan the best effects/lighting equipment to Taiwan. All this was done in order to give their audience the most perfect performanceFurthermore, for their first-ever performance [in Taiwan], for the first time ever they invited Taiwan entertainers/artists Xiao Gui (Alien Huang) and Hu Die Jie Jie (Butterfly Sister) to participate in the performance’s battle formation. Within the play, Xiao Gui acts a singer who loves nothing more to sing and Hu Die Jie Jie takes the role of a “Jia You” (cheering) Little Angel position, alternatively turning up on stage and in the audience in order to encourage and cheer for the Power Rangers.
In regards to if they could act out the character’s true spirit, Xiao Gui expressed that he has loved the Power Rangers since he was a child and once obsessively collected the entire action figure/doll set. To become a member of the Power Rangers is truly a dream come true for him. Hu Die Jie Jie actually prepared throat lozenges, saying she definitely needed to pour all her strength into supporting/encouraging the Power Rangers. To all those who have loved the Power Rangers, you can still watch the performance on the 17th and 18th at one in the afternoon at the Taipei International Conference Hall.
